The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced advanced preparations for a major Asia-Pacific regional conference aimed at accelerating agrifood systems transformation across 46 countries. The FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (#APRC38) will be hosted by the Government of Brunei Darussalam at The Empire Hotel from 20 to 24 April 2026. The event will bring together Ministers of Agriculture, senior officials, delegates, and representatives from civil society and the private sector.
The conference will focus on strategies to improve food security and reduce malnutrition, promote sustainable agricultural production, advance climate-resilient and low-emission agriculture, and support policies that reduce inequalities affecting smallholders, women, youth, and vulnerable populations. Additional priorities include ensuring safer and more nutritious food from farm to market, strengthening agriculture–forestry linkages, supporting sustainable livelihoods, reducing food loss and waste, harnessing science and innovation, and attracting greater financing and investment to achieve these goals.
#APRC38 will be held in-person, with hybrid options available for remote participation. Media representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond are welcome to attend either in-person or online, with advance registration required. Journalists needing visas to enter Brunei must complete an additional registration by 23 March 2026.
FAO Communications Specialists will be available throughout the conference to assist media, providing access to broadcast-quality video, arranging field visits in Brunei or in other countries, and facilitating interviews with FAO technical experts. The conference website will be regularly updated with technical papers, background materials, and other relevant resources to support informed coverage of the event.
