The Social Investment Fund (SIF) in Guernsey has increased its grant funding for 2026 to a total of £1.67 million, offering significant support to charities and not-for-profit organizations. Of this, £330,000 is designated for small grants of up to £15,000, while £1.34 million is allocated for major grants exceeding £15,000, aimed at groups providing essential services and community support.
This represents a 19% increase in funding compared to 2025, reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by organizations in the current economic climate. Applications for small grants, which can be used for one-off projects, capital expenses, or running costs up to a year, have a deadline of 1 April, while major grants, covering running costs, salaries, capital projects, and multi-year initiatives, are due by 15 May.
The first round of small grants will prioritize projects in arts, culture, heritage, and sports due to high demand. Major grant applications must focus on improving the lives of vulnerable groups, enhancing employment, education, or training opportunities, protecting Guernsey’s natural environment and cultural heritage, promoting health and wellbeing, or fostering inclusive communities that address barriers to equality.
This increase in available funds provides charities and not-for-profits with an important opportunity to expand their services and impact across the island.
