The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Republic of Chad have signed a new five-year Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) covering the period from 2026 to 2030. The agreement aims to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development while supporting Chad’s long-term economic transformation and diversification goals.
The partnership serves as a government-led platform that brings together public institutions, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and financial institutions to mobilize investment and strengthen industrial growth. The initiative aligns with Chad’s National Development Plan, Tchad Connexion 2030, as well as broader regional and international development frameworks.
The programme is designed to enhance Chad’s economic resilience, competitiveness, and capacity to create decent jobs. By leveraging the country’s agricultural resources, strategic geographic location, natural assets, and renewable energy potential, the initiative seeks to position industry as a key driver of sustainable economic growth.
A major focus of the partnership will be the development of industrial infrastructure, agro-industrial value chains, renewable energy solutions, and industrial zones. The programme will also support the growth of sectors such as agriculture, livestock, textiles, construction materials, and natural resource-based industries to increase local value addition and strengthen regional trade integration.
In addition, the initiative will promote entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, and skills development to improve industrial productivity and competitiveness. Environmental sustainability and social inclusion are also central objectives of the programme.
Special attention will be given to empowering women and young people through greater participation in industrial value chains, entrepreneurship opportunities, and technical training programs. The partnership also incorporates climate resilience, resource efficiency, and circular economy principles to ensure sustainable development outcomes.
Through this long-term collaboration, UNIDO and Chad aim to build a stronger industrial sector that supports economic diversification, attracts investment, and creates new opportunities for inclusive growth across the country.
