The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has launched the ELPS Call for Proposals 2025 to select an Implementing Partner for the initiative aimed at strengthening Rwanda’s macadamia nuts export value chain through organic certification. The intervention seeks to address the challenges and opportunities facing macadamia nut production in the country, with a focus on enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers.
Through this initiative, smallholder farmers will receive support to obtain organic certification, including access to essential agricultural inputs, technical knowledge, and the infrastructure needed to meet international organic standards. The program aims to improve productivity, quality, and market access for Rwandan macadamia nuts, boosting farmers’ incomes and competitiveness in global markets.
IFAD welcomes applications from local non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, and commercial entities that are equipped to implement the program and contribute to the development of a sustainable, certified organic macadamia value chain in Rwanda.
