The European Union has renewed its support for Awaaz Afghanistan, a nationwide accountability and information service implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The continued funding will help communities across Afghanistan access reliable information, humanitarian assistance and safe communication channels to share their concerns.
Launched in 2018 with support from EU Humanitarian Aid and other partners, Awaaz Afghanistan has become a trusted platform connecting people affected by crises with humanitarian organizations and essential services.
Operating across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, Awaaz provides a toll-free hotline that enables people to seek information, request support, provide feedback and receive referrals to relevant humanitarian services.
The platform works with more than 282 humanitarian and development partners, including United Nations agencies, international organizations, local NGOs and coordination groups. Through these partnerships, Awaaz helps humanitarian actors better understand community needs and improve their response.
Since its launch, Awaaz Afghanistan has received more than 737,000 calls and facilitated referrals for over 24,000 humanitarian assistance cases. The service continues to generate valuable community insights that help organizations identify emerging challenges and strengthen accountability to affected populations.
For many women and girls in Afghanistan, accessing reliable information and humanitarian services can be difficult. Awaaz provides a confidential communication channel where they can seek information, request support and connect with available protection services.
UNOPS and its partners highlight that effective humanitarian action begins with listening to communities. By allowing people to share their experiences and priorities, Awaaz helps ensure that humanitarian planning and service delivery reflect the needs of those affected by crises.
The renewed EU humanitarian support will enable Awaaz Afghanistan to strengthen partnerships, expand community engagement and continue providing a trusted link between communities, humanitarian organizations and decision-makers.
As humanitarian needs remain significant across Afghanistan, Awaaz Afghanistan will continue supporting communities by improving access to information, strengthening communication and ensuring that affected people remain at the centre of humanitarian response efforts.
