The World Bank has approved $250 million in financing to support Morocco’s digital transformation agenda and accelerate the implementation of the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy. The program is expected to strengthen digital public services, improve infrastructure, promote cloud adoption, and help businesses access modern digital technologies.
The financing will be delivered through the Morocco Digital Transformation Program, which supports reforms led by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. The national strategy, launched in September 2024, aims to modernize public administration, improve service delivery, and position Morocco as a leading digital economy in Africa.
The program is designed to produce measurable results by 2031, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for young people and women in the digital economy. Morocco aims to generate 240,000 jobs in the digital sector and become Africa’s top-ranked e-government by 2030.
Key initiatives under the program include the development of a unified national portal for public services and the rollout of a digital wallet. These tools will allow citizens to access official documents and government services online, making public administration more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.
The World Bank’s support is expected to help Morocco expand technology adoption across government agencies and the private sector. By improving digital infrastructure and access to digital tools, the program will contribute to economic growth, job creation, and stronger public service delivery across the country.
