Carinity is supporting community-focused church projects across Queensland through its Collaborative Community Projects funding scheme, helping local congregations deliver programs that assist vulnerable residents and strengthen neighbourhood connections.
Eight Queensland Baptist churches have each received $5,000 in Small Grants funding to support a range of grassroots initiatives spanning community care, youth engagement, family support, and social inclusion.
The funded churches are located in Agnes Water, Mundubbera, Ayr, Brisbane, Townsville, Laidley, and Ingham. Each project focuses on addressing local needs through practical, community-led responses.
In Brisbane, Fairfield Christian Family used its grant to install a new children’s playground fence, creating a safer and more welcoming space for families. In Mundubbera, weekly volleyball competitions hosted at the church hall are helping build relationships between residents and seasonal farm workers.
Other initiatives include Laidley Baptist Church’s intergenerational program combining meals, music, and storytelling with local partners, as well as Townsville’s Fairfield Baptist Church’s Daily Bread program, which supports vulnerable families while building long-term community trust.
In Ingham, Sugar Reef Baptist Church is using its funding to support flood-affected residents through practical assistance, while Ayr’s Rock Solid Boxing Club ministry is engaging young people through sport and mentorship to address youth disengagement.
Carinity also highlighted its broader Collaborative Community Projects program, which has allocated more than $404,000 this year to support church-led initiatives across Queensland. The program encourages faith-based organisations to develop local solutions that address social isolation, disaster recovery, family wellbeing, and community resilience.
Applications for the next round of funding are currently open, with submissions closing on June 30, 2026. The initiative continues to emphasize the role of local churches in delivering practical support and fostering stronger community relationships across regional Queensland.
