Researchers at Tampere University have been awarded nearly €2 million in grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation, which this year allocated a total of €29 million to support scientific research, the arts, and cultural activities across Finland.
Under the Foundation’s October 2025 call for proposals, 784 grants were awarded, with Tampere University researchers receiving €1,194,000 across 43 successful applications. This call attracted a record 11,425 submissions, resulting in a competitive success rate of 8.2% for research projects and 5.9% for arts and culture initiatives. The majority of the funding supported artistic work and doctoral research.
The Foundation also distributed 160 multi-year grants, including six four-year awards, with nine Tampere University researchers receiving long-term funding to further their work. Among the October 2025 grants, the largest single award was designated for the reopening exhibition of the National Museum of Finland.
This funding demonstrates the Finnish Cultural Foundation’s continued commitment to fostering excellence in research and cultural innovation, providing crucial support for both emerging and established scholars and artists across the country.
