Blurgs AI, a deep-tech startup founded by IIT Madras alumni Roshan Raj Mohanty and Dr. Avinash Kori, has raised $2.2 million in its first institutional funding round to accelerate the global expansion of its artificial intelligence platforms for defence, national security, and commercial maritime sectors. The funding round was led by Pravega Ventures and Shastra VC, with participation from angel investors Suraj Nalin and Yashwanth Madhusudhan.
The company develops AI-powered intelligence platforms that support real-time decision-making for ports, shipyards, fleets, fisheries, and defence organizations. Its technology is already being used by several mission-critical organizations, including the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Bharat Electronics, DRDO laboratories, Mumbai Port Authority, Dubai Maritime City, and The Nature Conservancy.
Blurgs AI plans to use the fresh capital to strengthen its core technology, expand its workforce, accelerate product development, and deepen its capabilities across maritime and defence applications. The company also aims to scale its operations into international markets, where demand for AI-driven intelligence solutions is growing rapidly.
Founded with a vision of building globally competitive deep-tech solutions from India, Blurgs AI focuses on delivering real-time operational intelligence, threat detection, and situational awareness for critical infrastructure and security operations. The latest investment marks a significant milestone in the startup’s growth as it expands its presence in global defence and maritime technology markets.
