The City of Maribyrnong has opened applications for its Community Grants Program 2026–27, offering a total funding pool of $290,000 to support community-led initiatives that promote connection, inclusion, wellbeing, and resilience.
Eligible community groups can apply for grants of up to $25,000 to deliver projects that respond to local needs, encourage community participation, and strengthen social connections across Maribyrnong. The program aims to help local organizations turn innovative ideas into projects that benefit residents and create a more vibrant community.
This year’s grants program has been updated to better align with the council’s strategic priorities and emerging community needs. Priority will be given to First Nations-led initiatives, projects supporting priority communities, and collaborative partnerships between local organizations and community groups.
To assist applicants, the council will host Community Information Sessions and Grant Writing Workshops throughout the application period, helping organizations prepare competitive funding proposals.
Applications for the Community Grants Program close at 4:00 p.m. on 18 August 2026. The initiative reflects the City of Maribyrnong’s ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots projects that foster inclusion, strengthen local partnerships, and improve community wellbeing.
