The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is strengthening support for Serbian businesses through a new €30 million financing facility aimed at improving access to funding, boosting competitiveness and supporting sustainable private-sector development.
The initiative is designed to help businesses across Serbia overcome financing barriers and invest in growth opportunities, innovation and operational improvements. By expanding access to financial resources, the facility will support companies seeking to modernize their activities and contribute to a more resilient economy.
Small and medium-sized enterprises remain central to Serbia’s economic development, providing employment opportunities and driving local economic activity. However, many businesses continue to face challenges in accessing long-term financing needed for expansion, digital transformation and sustainability investments.
The new EBRD support aligns with Serbia’s broader economic priorities, including strengthening private-sector competitiveness, improving productivity and advancing the country’s green transition. The bank has identified access to finance, sustainable infrastructure and business development as key areas of engagement in Serbia.
The financing is expected to help businesses invest in areas such as energy efficiency, technology upgrades and productivity improvements while encouraging more sustainable business practices. Previous EBRD programmes in Serbia have also focused on expanding financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, including support for green investments and digitalization.
Through partnerships with local financial institutions, the EBRD continues to expand financing options for Serbian companies and promote inclusive economic growth. The latest facility represents another step toward building a more competitive private sector and supporting Serbia’s long-term transition toward a greener and more innovative economy.
