The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Albania and the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) have launched an open call for civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and academic institutions to nominate candidates for membership in the National Steering Committee.
The GEF Small Grants Programme National Steering Committee serves as the main decision-making body for the programme at the country level. The committee provides strategic oversight, guidance, and direction to support the effective implementation of the GEF SGP Country Programme.
Selected members will contribute to shaping programme priorities, reviewing project proposals, and ensuring that initiatives align with national, regional, and global environmental goals. The committee will also support transparent decision-making processes and help strengthen community-led projects focused on sustainable development.
Key responsibilities of committee members include contributing to the development and review of the Country Programme Strategy, evaluating project proposals, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, and promoting partnerships and resource mobilization efforts.
Members will also help identify opportunities to scale successful projects and integrate lessons learned into broader national development planning and policymaking.
The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between environmental organizations, community groups, academic institutions, and development partners. By involving diverse stakeholders, the GEF Small Grants Programme seeks to improve the effectiveness and impact of locally driven environmental initiatives.
Interested organizations can nominate qualified candidates by submitting an updated curriculum vitae and a letter of interest. Applications must be submitted by 31 July 2026 at 14:00 Tirana time.
Through the National Steering Committee, UNDP Albania and the GEF Small Grants Programme aim to support inclusive environmental governance and advance sustainable development efforts across the country.
