A one-day entrepreneurship awareness and funding networking programme was recently held in Shimla to support women-led businesses and improve financial inclusion among local entrepreneurs. The event brought together around 55 women entrepreneurs from different parts of the district and focused on expanding access to funding opportunities, government schemes, and business development support.
The initiative was organized by the District Industries Centre (DIC) Shimla under the Department of Industries as part of the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) Project. It was implemented through NITCON Limited and aimed at strengthening financial literacy and entrepreneurial capacity among women business owners.
The programme focused on providing practical guidance on key areas such as banking services, loan approval processes, government subsidy schemes, insurance options, business registration under Udyam, and digital onboarding systems. Participants also engaged in networking sessions designed to help them connect with peers, experts, and institutional stakeholders.
Officials highlighted that the event was intended to improve access to formal financial systems and encourage greater participation of women in small and medium enterprise development. Representatives from banks, government departments, and development agencies shared information on available support mechanisms and pathways for business expansion.
The programme included participation from officials across financial institutions and development agencies, who provided insights into leveraging government-backed initiatives for entrepreneurship growth. Organizers emphasized that such initiatives are aimed at strengthening self-reliance and promoting sustainable livelihoods among women entrepreneurs in the region.
As part of the broader RAMP Project’s social inclusion component, the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to enhance MSME performance in India by improving access to finance, institutional support, and market linkages for women-led enterprises.
