Nairobi — June 2, 2026 — Kenya has signed a landmark partnership with Google to drive its ambitious tourism strategy, Magical Kenya – The Origin of Wonder. The initiative aims to increase international tourist arrivals from 3 million to 5 million and boost tourism revenue by 50% by the end of 2026.
The collaboration, signed by Tourism and Wildlife Minister Rebecca Miano and Google Kenya, focuses on three key areas: digital skills development and youth empowerment, deployment of artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, and enhanced global visibility through Google Ads and data analytics tools.
Running from May to December 2026, the program will be implemented in phases, beginning with the development of technological foundations, followed by activation of cloud infrastructure, and culminating in global marketing campaigns. Authorities expect the initiative to transform Kenya’s tourism industry into a digitally driven engine of economic growth.
To support the transformation, a 22-member task force has been established to reposition the Magical Kenya brand, strengthen international appeal, and create innovative strategies to boost tourist arrivals and youth employment. Minister Miano emphasized that technology integration will allow Kenya to showcase all 47 counties, offering more personalized visitor journeys and diversifying tourism experiences.
By investing in AI, cloud technology, and digital marketing, Kenya is reinforcing its position as one of Africa’s most advanced adopters of digital innovation for economic development. The strategy also aligns with broader continental trends, as countries like Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Africa accelerate investments in digital tourism platforms.
Authorities will evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative by the end of 2026, when the first global marketing campaigns are expected to be fully operational, marking a new chapter in Kenya’s tourism growth.
