The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has reaffirmed its strong partnership with Tajikistan during a meeting between AIIB President Zou Jiayi and President Emomali Rahmon at the Bank’s headquarters in Beijing. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in priority areas such as energy, connectivity, and sustainable infrastructure development, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing practical solutions that support Tajikistan’s long-term development goals.
President Zou expressed appreciation for the trust and collaboration between AIIB and Tajikistan, emphasizing the Bank’s readiness to support impactful projects that strengthen resilience, connectivity, and economic opportunity. President Rahmon commended AIIB’s contributions to Tajikistan’s infrastructure development and thanked the Bank’s leadership for its continued support of the country’s sustainable growth.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on a Multi-Year Rolling Investment Pipeline, building on their earlier meeting in Dushanbe in February 2026. The agreement outlines AIIB’s intention to provide approximately USD 800 million in financing over the coming years to support Tajikistan’s core infrastructure projects. These investments are aligned with the country’s national development priorities and are expected to deliver long-term benefits.
As a founding member of AIIB, Tajikistan has been an active partner since the Bank’s inception. The latest agreement underscores both sides’ determination to deepen cooperation and translate shared priorities into concrete outcomes, reinforcing Tajikistan’s role in the Bank’s broader mission to advance sustainable infrastructure across its member countries.
