The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) has opened applications for Fiscal Year 2026 Cycle 2 of the Going PRO Talent Fund, offering approximately $6 million in training grants to help local businesses close skill gaps and strengthen the state’s workforce. Michigan businesses have until April 24, 2026, to apply through their local Michigan Works! agency, with award announcements expected in June.
Since its launch in 2014, the Going PRO Talent Fund has distributed over $323.4 million, benefiting 8,966 businesses and more than 241,600 workers statewide. The program supports employers in training, developing, and retaining both current and newly hired employees, enabling workers to earn industry-recognized credentials and access high-wage, long-term career opportunities.
The fund supports a range of employer-driven training models, including classroom instruction, on-the-job training for new hires, and Registered Apprenticeships. These flexible approaches allow businesses across sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, information technology, construction, agribusiness, and hospitality to meet specific workforce needs while building a competitive, skilled labor pool.
Applications are facilitated in partnership with local Michigan Works! agencies, which assist employers in designing customized training solutions aligned with real-time labor market demands. Interested businesses are encouraged to contact their local service center for guidance and support during the application process.
