Neokred’s Golf for Good Backs Child Nutrition

Dated: March 23, 2026

The ‘Golf for Good’ charity tournament, organised in Bengaluru on 21 March 2025, was successfully held in support of The Akshaya Patra Foundation with backing from Neokred’s CSR initiative, The Empact Project. Hosted at the Prestige Golfshire Club, the event brought together corporate leaders, philanthropists and sports enthusiasts to raise funds for child nutrition and education. The tournament generated support to provide hot and nutritious mid-day meals to 1,400 children, amounting to approximately 320,122 meals for government and government-aided school students across Karnataka during the upcoming academic year.

The initiative was designed to help combat classroom hunger while promoting better nutrition and educational outcomes for children. It also attracted participation from several notable personalities from the corporate and business sectors, reflecting strong support from influential leaders for the cause. The event highlighted how sport and philanthropy can come together to create meaningful social impact.

Funds raised through the tournament will directly support Akshaya Patra’s work as an implementing partner of the Government of India’s PM POSHAN initiative, the country’s flagship school lunch programme. Through this programme, the foundation currently serves around 2.25 million children every day across 78 locations in 16 states and 3 Union Territories. The event reinforced the idea that every contribution, including participation in a sporting event, can help ensure children receive nutritious meals and better access to education.

Organisers and partners described the tournament as more than just a fundraising event, calling it a movement that connected purpose with action. Supporters emphasized that feeding children is fundamental to building a stronger future and that the success of the event demonstrated the power of bringing together business leaders and changemakers for a common social goal. Neokred also positioned the tournament as an important milestone in The Empact Project’s mission to connect corporates with meaningful social initiatives and ensure that every effort contributes to measurable impact.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation expressed gratitude for the strong response and support received for the event, describing it as a powerful example of collective action. In addition to raising funds, the tournament also helped increase awareness about the importance of mid-day meals in improving school attendance, learning outcomes and child wellbeing. The success of the event further validated the foundation’s long-standing efforts to eliminate classroom hunger through collaboration with government bodies, corporate partners and philanthropic supporters.

The Empact Project, created by Neokred, was also highlighted as a purpose-driven platform that connects CSR-focused corporations with NGOs seeking funding for impactful programmes. By focusing on transparency, programme vetting and detailed impact reporting, the platform aims to help businesses support scalable and measurable social responsibility initiatives.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation continues to be one of India’s largest not-for-profit school feeding organisations. Working in partnership with the Government of India, state governments, Union Territory administrations and donors, it has grown from serving 1,500 children in five schools to reaching over 2.25 million children in more than 23,000 schools across 16 states and 3 Union Territories. Since 2000, the foundation has served more than 4 billion meals, reflecting its major role in addressing classroom hunger and child malnutrition in India.
