The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the International Labour Organization signed a new Strategic Partnership Framework for 2026–2029 in Geneva on 2 February 2026, renewing their long-standing cooperation. The agreement was formalized by senior representatives from Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the ILO, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing decent work and social justice globally.
Under the new framework, Luxembourg will contribute €6.8 million over four years, marking an increase compared to the previous agreement. The funding will be channelled through the ILO’s Regular Budget Supplementary Account to provide predictable and flexible support for the Organization’s core mandate. Luxembourg reiterated its strong commitment to multilateralism and development cooperation, including its policy of allocating 1 per cent of gross national income to development and humanitarian assistance.
The partnership builds on ongoing collaboration in areas such as social protection and country-level projects, including initiatives in Rwanda and Cabo Verde. During their annual consultation following the signing ceremony, both sides reviewed progress and agreed to further strengthen coordination. The renewed framework underscores Luxembourg’s continued support for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its partnership with the ILO in promoting inclusive growth, social protection and decent work worldwide.
