The partnership between the United Nations Development Programme and the Asian Development Bank continues to play a strategic role in supporting the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in advancing inclusive economic recovery, climate action, gender equality, and evidence-based policymaking. Anchored in a global Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration provides a coordinated framework for joint action across Asia and the Pacific during the Decade of Action for the Sustainable Development Goals, aligning national priorities with regional and global development agendas.
Through analytical collaboration, policy dialogue, and coordinated technical assistance, UNDP and ADB have supported evidence-based recovery and economic policy reform, particularly in response to the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Joint analytical work strengthened government capacity to design recovery policies grounded in data and vulnerability analysis, while promoting coordinated engagement among development partners around a greener, more inclusive recovery pathway. These efforts informed government planning, medium-term reforms, and stakeholder alignment on priorities such as green growth, digitalisation, and sustainable production.
The partnership has also delivered significant progress in climate adaptation planning and urban climate action. UNDP and ADB worked together to integrate climate adaptation and mitigation into national development planning and investment frameworks, strengthening policy coherence between climate commitments, urban strategies, and sectoral reforms. Their joint support to the National Adaptation Plan and the development of the country’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution positioned cities as key drivers of climate resilience and low-carbon development, reinforcing national readiness to address climate risks.
At the regional level, cooperation under the CAREC framework has advanced gender equality and inclusive green transformation. UNDP and ADB have supported gender-responsive climate and energy policies, elevated women’s leadership in innovation, and strengthened capacities across governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector. These efforts have contributed to more inclusive regional policy dialogue and practical integration of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into climate and energy transitions.
The partnership has further supported governance and anticorruption efforts in the Kyrgyz Republic by promoting public dialogue, transparency, and accountability in public institutions. Through joint initiatives, UNDP and ADB have reinforced anti-corruption principles in policy implementation and strengthened professional exchange to support national strategies and international commitments. Overall, the 2026 UNDP–ADB partnership reflects a comprehensive and integrated approach to sustainable development, resilience, and inclusive growth in the Kyrgyz Republic and the wider region.
