The Government of Austria has renewed its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through a contribution of 1,219,000 EUR in core resources. This support comes at a time when global cooperation is essential, enabling UNDP to accelerate sustainable development across 170 countries and territories and direct resources swiftly to areas of greatest need.
Austria’s contribution will strengthen UNDP’s efforts to address pressing global challenges, including climate action, nature conservation, poverty reduction, and the promotion of inclusive and accountable governance systems. Core funding allows UNDP to respond rapidly to crises, from conflicts to climate disasters, protecting development gains and building resilience in fragile contexts. This flexibility ensures that assistance reaches those most in need, whether in Ukraine, Gaza, the Western Balkans, Yemen, Ethiopia, Haiti, or other affected areas.
UNDP emphasizes that core resources are vital for saving lives, safeguarding livelihoods, and maintaining developmental progress. These contributions support long-term strategies while enabling rapid crisis response and the capacity to address emerging challenges by filling resource gaps in underfunded regions.
The renewed partnership with Austria reinforces a shared mission for a more equitable and prosperous world, ensuring that no one is left behind. Core funding also strengthens UNDP’s oversight and accountability, ensuring that programmes are delivered effectively, efficiently, and transparently, maintaining its reputation as one of the most transparent international organizations.
