InnovateUkraine Round 2 Winners Announced by UK and Ukraine Partnership

Dated: December 9, 2025

The second round of InnovateUkraine was launched following the announcement at Rebuild Ukraine 2025, with the UK government committing an additional £17 million in funding. This new investment builds on the 12 projects supported during the first round and aims to promote low-carbon solutions that strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience and security, while also addressing broader global climate and energy challenges.

The initiative brings together British, Ukrainian, and international businesses and research institutions to develop scalable clean energy solutions over a 24-month period starting in December 2025. The projects focus on innovation, sustainability, and collaboration to modernize Ukraine’s energy system and support its green recovery.

Officials highlighted the importance of the initiative for advancing energy sector resilience and cooperation. The Ministry of Energy emphasized the long-standing UK–Ukraine energy partnership and its role in shaping strategic efforts toward sustainable, decentralized energy systems. The UK Ambassador to Ukraine underscored InnovateUkraine’s impact, noting that the second round continues to leverage Ukraine’s talent, drive innovation, and strengthen energy security for the future.

Notable projects under this round include sustainable construction concepts, a long-duration all-iron battery storage solution, AI-powered microgrids, cement carbon capture, and converting agricultural waste into energy. Projects from the first round have already begun scaling solutions in areas such as heating, biogas, waste recycling, and battery storage, with many securing additional funding to expand their impact.

The InnovateUkraine program demonstrates the strength of UK–Ukraine collaboration and reflects a shared commitment to addressing immediate energy needs while fostering sustainable, long-term solutions to global climate challenges.
