The African Union Peace Fund Secretariat (AUPF) and the Government of Denmark have formalized a three-year strategic partnership, marked by a DKK 10 million grant agreement signed on 5 December 2025 in Addis Ababa. This funding is intended to strengthen Africa’s peace financing architecture and support sustainable, African-led peace and security interventions.
The agreement, endorsed by H.E. Ambassador Sune Krogstrup and Director Dagmawit Moges, reflects Denmark’s commitment, through the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Denmark in Ethiopia, to provide sustained and predictable support to the Peace Fund from 2026 to 2028.
The partnership aims to enhance the institutional capacity of the AUPF, improve core systems, and ensure funding predictability, directly linking institutional strengthening to measurable peace-building outcomes across the continent.
Director Dagmawit Moges of the AU Peace Fund expressed gratitude for Denmark’s strategic support and leadership, highlighting the importance of the collaboration in advancing the Peace Fund’s objectives.
This initiative strengthens Africa’s ability to prevent conflicts, sustain peace, and respond to emerging security challenges, promoting values of accountability, partnership, and multilateral cooperation.
As the African Union accelerates its peace and security agenda, this collaboration contributes significantly to realizing the aspirations of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
