The American India Foundation (AIF) celebrated its 25th anniversary during its annual New York Gala held on June 9, 2026, at Cipriani Wall Street. The event attracted around 600 attendees and generated a record-breaking $3.8 million to support the organization’s initiatives in public health, education, and livelihoods. More than $1 million was raised through the evening’s pledge drive, including a leadership contribution of $300,000 from Global Board member Saira Lal.
Since its establishment in 2001, AIF has impacted more than 23 million people across 35 states and union territories in India. The funds raised at the gala will help the organization continue expanding programs that improve healthcare access, educational opportunities, and economic livelihoods for underserved communities.
A major highlight of the event was the recognition of several distinguished leaders for their contributions to business, technology, and social impact. Honorees included Bharat Masrani, retired CEO of TD Bank Group; Salil Parekh, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys; and BNY, which was recognized for its corporate citizenship and commitment to inclusive community development.
The gala also showcased AIF’s work through immersive experiences and cultural performances. Guests explored a virtual reality presentation highlighting the organization’s Learning and Migration Program and enjoyed performances by the internationally acclaimed Young People’s Chorus of New York City. The event was hosted by comedian and former venture capitalist Dhaya Lakshminarayanan.
During the celebration, speakers emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for underserved populations and leveraging technology for social good. They highlighted how philanthropy, innovation, and strategic partnerships can drive meaningful change and expand access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
