The Rockefeller Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to the Just Transitions Incubator (JUTI) to strengthen and expand Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW), a leading platform for locally driven climate action in Southeast Asia.
The funding will support the creation of a multi-stakeholder coalition responsible for organizing Bangkok Climate Action Week in 2026 and 2027. Scheduled to take place from October 3 to 11, 2026, the event aims to bring together governments, community organizations, researchers, businesses, philanthropic groups, and civil society leaders to advance practical climate solutions across the region.
According to the Rockefeller Foundation, the grant will help formalize governance structures, improve stakeholder engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and enhance collaboration among organizations working on climate resilience and sustainable development. The initiative is designed to foster greater accountability, shared ownership, and long-term impact beyond annual events.
The funding also seeks to strengthen locally led climate action ecosystems by supporting regional cooperation, knowledge sharing, and South-South collaboration on climate and development challenges. Organizers believe the platform can help connect community-based solutions with policy discussions while promoting approaches that link climate action to economic opportunity, resilience, and inclusive growth.
Bangkok Climate Action Week was first launched in 2025 with support from the Rockefeller Foundation and has quickly emerged as an important forum for climate leadership in Southeast Asia. The 2026 edition is expected to play a significant role in building momentum for regional climate initiatives ahead of major international economic and development meetings later in the year.
Through this investment, the Rockefeller Foundation aims to help accelerate collaborative climate action and strengthen the capacity of local organizations to drive sustainable and equitable solutions for communities across Southeast Asia.
