Buffalo, N.Y. — June 3, 2026 — PowerBank Corporation has announced that its 3.1 MW NY-South Park community solar project, located on a closed landfill site in Buffalo, has been approved for $841,555 USD in incentives through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) NY-Sun Program.
The project is expected to qualify for up to an additional $730,234 USD in incentives through the Inclusive Community Solar Adder and the Retail Energy Storage Incentive Program, bringing total potential funding to $1.57 million. Once operational, the project will deliver clean energy equivalent to powering 388 homes annually, while enabling renters and homeowners to save on electricity bills by subscribing to the community solar system.
Community solar projects like NY-South Park connect directly to the local grid, allowing participants to earn credits on their monthly bills without installing panels on their homes. The initiative supports New York’s ambitious goal of reaching 10 GW of solar capacity by 2030, building on the state’s achievement of its 6 GW Climate Act target in 2024.
PowerBank’s ability to secure incentives across its New York portfolio—including projects in Elmira, Jordan Rd, and Geddes—demonstrates its strength in navigating state-level programs. With over 100 MW of completed projects and a pipeline exceeding 1 GW, the company is positioning itself as a key provider of renewable energy solutions for the digital economy, especially as demand for electricity surges with the growth of AI and modular data centers.
“This project reflects our institutional-grade development capabilities and commitment to advancing clean energy while supporting community access,” the company stated.
