The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund has pledged more than £30,000 in its latest quarterly funding round to support a wide range of local charities, sports clubs, and community organisations across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The funding is part of the Trust Fund’s ongoing effort to support grassroots projects within a 10-mile radius of the airport, with grants typically awarded for tangible, long-lasting community benefits.
A total of 22 organisations received support in this round, including sports clubs, youth groups, heritage projects, and social care initiatives. Among the beneficiaries were a local cricket club, a community sports organisation, and groups working in education, inclusion, and wellbeing. The funding is intended to help these organisations purchase equipment, improve facilities, and expand participation in community activities.
One of the highlighted recipients was a South Manchester archaeological group, which received funding to support equipment for local excavation and heritage research activities. Another grant supported an animal therapy charity that uses trained animals to assist young people facing emotional and psychological challenges, helping them build confidence and develop life skills through structured sessions.
Additional funding was awarded to sports clubs and community organisations working on inclusion, youth engagement, and local infrastructure improvements. Projects included upgrades to community facilities, improved accessibility for participants with disabilities, and resources for educational and recreational programmes that serve diverse age groups across the region.
The Community Trust Fund, established in 1997, is managed by trustees from the airport and surrounding local authorities. It provides annual funding of up to £100,000 and typically awards individual grants of up to £3,000 per project, focusing on initiatives that deliver lasting public benefit and strengthen community life.
Overall, the latest funding round reflects the Trust Fund’s continued role in supporting grassroots development, strengthening local services, and ensuring that communities near Manchester Airport benefit directly from ongoing investment in social, cultural, and recreational projects.
