Korean actor and GOT7 member Park Jin-young has donated 50 million won, equivalent to approximately USD $34,000, to Save the Children Korea to support music education programmes for children overseas. The donation coincides with the release of his solo mini album “Said & Done” and is intended to help children with limited educational opportunities access creative learning through music.
According to Save the Children Korea, the funding will support music education initiatives for children living in areas where access to educational infrastructure and learning opportunities remains limited. The programmes aim to help children discover their talents, strengthen self-esteem, and explore their potential through music and creative expression.
Save the Children Korea emphasized that music can play an important role in supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and personal development. The organization stated that the donation will contribute to expanding learning opportunities and creating stable educational environments where children can continue to grow and develop.
Park Jin-young has previously supported several humanitarian and child-focused initiatives through Save the Children. In 2023, he donated 30 million won, approximately USD $21,000, to support emergency relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in Türkiye that resulted in significant loss of life and widespread displacement.
In recognition of his continued support, Park Jin-young was appointed to Save the Children Korea’s Honors Club, a major donor network established in 2020 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Save the Children’s founding. The Honors Club includes celebrities and individual donors who have contributed at least 30 million won in cumulative donations.
The artist has continued his philanthropic activities in subsequent years. In 2025, he donated an additional 30 million won to support earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar following a major earthquake. He also contributed 100 million won, approximately USD $70,000, to support meal programmes for children in Korea.
Save the Children Korea stated that members of the Honors Club contribute not only through financial donations but also through volunteer activities and awareness-building efforts aimed at improving the survival, protection, and development of children globally.
Current members of the donor group include public figures from various sectors, including entertainers and broadcasters, who participate in humanitarian and child welfare initiatives both within Korea and internationally.
Save the Children Korea was established in 1953 following the Korean War and has since evolved from an organization receiving international aid into a major contributor to global humanitarian and child rights initiatives. The organization currently works on child protection, education, and emergency response programmes in Korea and around the world.
