The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is supporting the expansion of Poland’s agrifood processing industry through a €13.5 million loan to LeciForce, a producer of premium sunflower lecithin products used in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors. The financing will support the construction of a modern manufacturing facility in Lublin, marking the first plant of its kind in Poland and only the second such facility in Europe.
The new facility will focus on transforming low-grade crude lecithin, a by-product of vegetable oil processing that is often wasted or used for animal feed, into high-quality non-GMO lecithin ingredients for European markets. Designed with advanced resource-efficiency standards and circular economy principles, the plant aims to improve sustainability in food processing while reducing industrial waste.
The investment is backed by a first-loss guarantee from the European Union under the InvestEU programme, helping strengthen innovation and sustainable manufacturing in the region. The project is expected to contribute to Europe’s supply of premium food and pharmaceutical ingredients while demonstrating scalable circular economy solutions within the agrifood sector.
LeciForce was established in Poland by Ukrainian entrepreneurs connected to Agrosem Group, a leading distributor of agricultural products and machinery in Ukraine and an existing EBRD client. Through this investment, the EBRD continues its broader support for Poland’s economic development and sustainable industrial growth, with total investments in the country exceeding €16.6 billion.
