The Government of Ontario is investing over $20 million through the Experience Ontario 2026 program to support nearly 400 festivals and events across the province, aiming to strengthen tourism, create jobs, and promote local culture and identity. The funding will help municipalities and organizers deliver a wide range of events, including music, food, arts, Indigenous, Francophone, and seasonal festivals, designed to attract both domestic and international visitors while showcasing Ontario’s diverse communities.
Officials highlighted that festivals and events play a key role in boosting local economies, supporting tourism-related employment, and enhancing Ontario’s appeal as a cultural destination. The initiative is also expected to strengthen small towns and urban centres by increasing visitor spending and supporting local businesses.
Since its launch, the Experience Ontario program has supported thousands of events across the province, contributing significantly to tourism growth and economic activity. The 2026 funding round also introduces new support for first-time event organizers, further expanding opportunities for community participation and cultural development across Ontario.
