The International Labour Organization (ILO) has launched a new season of its “Business is not as usual” webinar series, bringing together senior leaders from Employers’ and Business Membership Organizations (EBMOs) to discuss how business institutions can adapt and lead in a rapidly evolving global environment. Launched on 17 April 2026, the series provides a platform for dialogue between academic researchers, thought leaders, and chief executives, aiming to equip EBMO leaders with evidence-based insights and practical strategies to strengthen their organizations and improve their impact on labour markets and broader business ecosystems.
Across six sessions, the programme will explore major themes shaping the future of business institutions, including their evolution, responses to employment laws, roles in collective bargaining in less regulated markets, and contributions to economic prosperity. It will also examine the effects of digital transformation on labour market governance, new models of representation for underrepresented business groups, and strategies for navigating increasingly complex operating environments. Each session will combine research presentations, expert commentary, and interactive discussions designed to encourage peer learning and collaborative exchange.
Targeted at senior management and board members of EBMOs worldwide, the series blends academic research with practitioner experience to support strategic decision-making, leadership development, and stronger institutional positioning. Participants will also have opportunities to expand their professional networks and engage directly with experts from universities, business schools, think tanks, and leading enterprises.
