The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the second round of funding under the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to support farmers affected by natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. Alongside this release, the department has extended the application deadline from April 30, 2026, to August 12, 2026, giving farmers and Farm Service Agency staff more time to complete and update applications that may impact final payments.
The relief effort is aimed at helping farmers manage ongoing financial pressures caused by extreme weather events, high input costs, and market uncertainty. Industry representatives have emphasized that timely support is essential for maintaining farm viability and preparing for upcoming planting seasons.
USDA has also increased the SDRP payment factor from 35 percent to 70 percent following further assessment. Farmers who already received approved payments will receive an additional 35 percent, while all future payments under the program will be issued at the revised higher rate to provide stronger financial relief.
