Queenslanders affected by the ongoing flood emergency can now access disaster assistance payments ranging from $180 for individuals to up to $900 for families of five or more, helping cover essentials such as food, clothing, and medicine.
Eligibility for assistance has expanded to include more residents in Bundaberg and Douglas, and additional flood-affected areas in Carpentaria, Doomadgee, McKinlay, parts of Gladstone, and Chinchilla in the Western Downs.
Low-income and uninsured residents can also apply for grants of up to $80,000 to repair damaged homes, restore safe living conditions, replace essential appliances, and reconnect vital services.
Councils in Bulloo, Lockhart River, and Western Downs are now able to recover costs for disaster response operations and the reconstruction of critical public infrastructure under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
In total, 58 local government areas across Queensland are receiving DRFA support following the widespread flooding that began on Christmas Eve last year. Newly eligible localities include Avoca, Branyan, Bungadoo, Pine Creek, Morganville, and South Kolan in Bundaberg; Bloomfield, Dagmar, Forest Creek, Kimberley, Noah, and Stewart Creek Valley in Douglas; and Agnes Water, Baffle Creek, Boyne Valley, Captain Creek, Deepwater, Lowmead, Oyster Creek, Rosedale, Rules Beach, and Turkey Beach in Gladstone.
