The Rewilding Innovation Fund is designed to support projects that accelerate rewilding efforts across Britain. It provides funding of up to £15,000 to help initiatives overcome obstacles, explore innovative approaches, and attract future investment. The fund is open to projects at any stage, from early planning to trialling new methods.
Eligible projects must be based in England, Scotland, or Wales, cover at least 40 hectares of contiguous land (or be of any size for marine rewilding), be part of the Rewilding Network, and align with Rewilding Britain’s principles for rewilding at scale.
The fund supports a variety of activities, including feasibility studies, business planning, community engagement, trialling new tools or technologies, and other initiatives that help projects progress along the rewilding scale. Priority is given to projects that offer tangible benefits for both nature and local communities, on land or at sea.
Since 2021, over £970,000 has been awarded to 79 projects, including studies on white-tailed eagles, coastal restoration initiatives, and drone-based habitat surveys. The fund runs two rounds each year, with applications for the next cycle closing on 28 February. Interested organisations can review funding criteria, explore previously supported projects, and contact the Rewilding Network team for guidance before applying.
