The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in partnership with the European Union (EU), has launched a water conservation awareness campaign to educate young people in Egypt about the importance of protecting water resources and reducing pollution.
The initiative is part of the Kitchener Depollution Programme, which focuses on promoting sustainable environmental practices in communities located near the Kitchener Drain. More than 2,000 students from the governorates of Gharbeya, Daqahleya, and Kafr El Sheikh have participated in educational activities covering water conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention.
A key highlight of the campaign was the Nilous Camp Adventures in Kafr El Sheikh, where 600 children engaged in interactive learning experiences designed to demonstrate how simple daily actions can help conserve water and protect the environment.
The campaign aims to inspire the next generation to become advocates for sustainable water management and cleaner communities. By raising awareness among students, the EBRD and the EU hope to encourage long-term environmental responsibility and support a healthier future for communities surrounding the Kitchener Drain.
Through educational outreach and community engagement, the programme reinforces the message that protecting water resources is a shared responsibility and that every small action contributes to a more sustainable future.
