WK Kellogg Co has announced a $100,000 investment in the Battle Creek Housing Fund to support new housing development and rehabilitation efforts in Battle Creek, Michigan, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to its hometown and local community development.
The contribution is aimed at addressing a housing shortage estimated at more than 3,000 units in the city. The Battle Creek Housing Fund, launched with seed support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and local partners, is working to expand access to both affordable and market-rate housing while supporting broader economic stability for families.
The fund has set a long-term goal of supporting the development and rehabilitation of 1,000 housing units by 2035. WK Kellogg Co’s latest investment is intended to accelerate progress toward that target by strengthening housing availability and improving living conditions for local residents.
Company leaders emphasized that the investment reflects a broader commitment to community development, describing Battle Creek as the company’s long-time home. The initiative aligns with WK Kellogg Co’s wider social impact strategy focused on improving well-being for families and communities through sustained local engagement.
The housing initiative also brings together a coalition of partners, including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the City of Battle Creek, Battle Creek Unlimited, and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. Together, these stakeholders aim to strengthen the local housing ecosystem, support workforce development, and improve long-term economic opportunities in the region.
Community leaders have welcomed the investment, highlighting housing as a key factor in workforce retention and economic growth. They note that improved access to safe and affordable housing helps families achieve stability while enabling employers to attract and retain talent.
