The European Investment Bank (EIB) has announced a €30 million investment in Czech-based Rohlik Group to support the expansion of its AI-powered automation platform, Veloq, strengthening Europe’s digital retail and logistics innovation ecosystem.
The financing represents a top-up to an earlier €90 million investment made in 2024, bringing total EIB support for the company to €120 million. The funding will help scale Veloq, Rohlik’s advanced automation and artificial intelligence system designed for same-day grocery fulfilment across Europe and the United States.
Rohlik Group, founded in Prague in 2014, has grown into one of Europe’s leading online grocery retailers, operating across multiple markets including the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Romania. The company has built its business model around high levels of automation and AI-driven logistics to improve efficiency and delivery performance.
The new investment will enable further development and commercial deployment of Veloq, a platform that integrates automated warehouse systems, predictive inventory management, and intelligent delivery routing. The technology is designed to help other retailers adopt similar fulfilment systems, improving speed, reliability, and operational efficiency.
EIB officials said the investment reflects a broader effort to support European technology champions and address gaps in late-stage financing for high-growth companies. The initiative also aligns with EU efforts to strengthen digital transformation and innovation across key industries.
Company leadership emphasized that EIB support will accelerate the adoption of scalable automation solutions across the retail sector, helping expand access to faster and more efficient grocery delivery services.
The financing is backed by the European Union’s InvestEU programme and is expected to support innovation, job creation, and competitiveness in Europe’s digital economy.
This latest agreement marks the second major EIB transaction with Rohlik, reinforcing confidence in the company’s growth trajectory and its role in shaping the future of AI-driven retail logistics.
