Eight more community organisations in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) have received funding to deliver a range of programmes supporting wellbeing, inclusion, and community engagement. Funded activities include exercise classes, sports, peer support, crafts, community events, digital inclusion workshops, and play sessions for children, addressing diverse needs across the borough.
The RBWM Innovation Fund, jointly managed by the Royal Borough and NHS Frimley, has awarded over £150,000 to around 60 community projects so far. The fund aims to reduce inequalities, promote health and wellbeing, and help residents access support and services. Organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to launch or expand their initiatives.
Among the latest recipients, Maidenhead Thai Chi will expand its weekly sessions for older adults, while WeeKicks is launching an outreach football programme in Windsor for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Sakoon Through Cancer will provide health education and peer-support workshops for South Asian women affected by cancer. People2Places will run craft and technology sessions for older and socially isolated residents at its Maidenhead Shopmobility site, and WM Youth Step to Success will offer culturally sensitive mentoring and workshops for local youth.
Additional projects include Pop Up and Play Village, which will deliver interactive role play sessions for children aged up to eight, CHW Churches, which is organising wellbeing events for children, young families, and older residents, and Connecting Communities, providing digital inclusion workshops and personalised support for older and vulnerable residents.
Cllr Catherine del Campo, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, Housing Delivery and Health, highlighted that the fund empowers local people who understand their communities’ needs to create meaningful change. She encouraged organisations with strong ideas to apply for the next funding round, opening in April, to continue supporting health and wellbeing across the borough.
