Montreal, Quebec (October 2025) – The McCall MacBain Foundation has announced the next cohort of 26 McCall MacBain International Fellows for 2025. In partnership with McGill University, McMaster University, Dalhousie University, and the University of Manitoba, the Fellowship supports undergraduate students in gaining immersive international experience through language learning, academic studies, and hands-on work placements abroad. Each student receives support valued at up to $30,000 for a full year of global learning.
Fellows are currently living and studying around the world, including in Costa Rica, Italy, Vietnam, Switzerland, Mauritius, Morocco, Denmark, China, Egypt, Chile, Norway, Thailand, Japan, Bolivia, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Turkey, South Korea, Uruguay, Sweden, and Taiwan. Their Fellowship year includes three distinct terms: intensive language training, postsecondary coursework, and an internship or work placement within their host community.
According to John McCall MacBain, Chair of the Foundation, investing in international, long-term, and culturally immersive experiences is essential for developing globally aware leaders who will help shape Canada’s future. Natasha Sawh, CEO of the McCall MacBain Scholarships, emphasized that the Fellowship builds critical leadership skills including resilience, independence, problem-solving, flexibility, and cultural understanding.
The selection process for the program goes beyond academics to recognize leadership, service, and character. Fellows gathered for a pre-departure orientation in Quebec earlier this year and continue to receive mentorship and engagement opportunities from the Foundation and one another throughout their Fellowship.
Applications for the next cohort are now open until January 13, 2026, for students planning to begin their Fellowship abroad in the summer of 2026.
