The Morris Educational Foundation has awarded $42,050 in new grants to support student programs across the Morris School District in New Jersey. The latest funding brings the foundation’s total grant contributions for the school year to more than $189,000, according to an announcement made on June 10, 2026.
The grants were approved during a Morris School District Board of Education meeting and will fund a range of educational initiatives aimed at enhancing classroom learning, cultural enrichment, and student leadership development.
One of the funded programs will support kindergarten learning through a dramatic play initiative titled “Bringing Learning to Life: Dramatic Play for Kindergarten Knowledge Units,” piloted at Woodland School. The program is designed to help young students develop oral language, vocabulary, and social-emotional skills through interactive learning experiences.
Another grant will fund cultural arts programming across all 10 schools in the district. This initiative aims to provide students with access to performances and creative activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and engagement in learning.
A third grant will support the FMS Falcon Flight Crew Peer Leader Program, which helps eighth-grade students prepare to mentor incoming sixth graders. The program includes leadership training at YMCA Camp Bernie and focuses on building confidence, communication skills, and peer support during the transition to middle school.
Officials from the Morris Educational Foundation said the grants reflect ongoing efforts to support programs not covered by standard school budgets or local tax revenue. The organization emphasized that its funding helps enhance educational opportunities for approximately 5,700 students across the district.
The foundation also noted that its broader grant efforts this school year have supported STEM activities, arts residencies, wellness initiatives, and other enrichment programs. Community members, alumni, families, and local businesses have been encouraged to continue supporting the foundation’s work through donations.
