Impetus has announced a £100,000 investment in Coach Core Foundation through its Skills Fund, marking the organization’s newest partnership aimed at improving employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people across the UK.
Coach Core Foundation specializes in inclusive sports coaching apprenticeships designed for young people who face barriers to education, employment, and training. The program connects participants with employers across the sports sector, providing professional qualifications, practical work experience, mentorship, and tailored support.
The investment comes at a time when more than one million young people in the UK are classified as not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Through its apprenticeship model, Coach Core helps young people gain valuable skills while supporting employers in recruiting and developing local talent.
In addition to financial backing, Coach Core will receive strategic support from Impetus, including access to capacity-building expertise and a network of pro-bono professionals. The partnership is expected to help the organization strengthen its impact and expand opportunities for young people facing socioeconomic challenges.
Coach Core works closely with employers and training providers to deliver Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications while addressing barriers that often prevent businesses from offering apprenticeships. More than 40% of its apprentices live in some of the UK’s most deprived communities, highlighting the program’s focus on social mobility and inclusion.
The funding forms part of Impetus’ broader Skills Fund initiative, which seeks to identify and scale effective solutions for tackling youth unemployment. By supporting organizations like Coach Core, Impetus aims to build evidence-based approaches that can influence policy and create long-term systemic change in the skills and employment sector.
With growing demand for practical pathways into work, the partnership represents an important step toward helping more young people gain access to meaningful careers and brighter futures.
