Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger has announced a $23.7 million investment by MSolar Manufacturing to establish a vertically integrated solar panel production facility in Shenandoah County. The project will bring 150 new jobs to Mount Jackson and expand domestic manufacturing capacity for high-efficiency solar technology.
The new 56,000-square-foot facility will produce advanced solar modules designed for utility-scale and commercial energy projects. MSolar plans to integrate multiple stages of production on-site, including solar glass, silicon cells, heterojunction (HJT) cells, and final solar panel assembly, supporting a fully vertically integrated manufacturing process.
Once operational, the facility is expected to produce more than 500,000 HJT solar panels annually. These products will be supplied to energy projects across the United States, supporting the growing demand for renewable energy infrastructure and strengthening domestic supply chains for solar technology.
State officials highlighted the project as a key step in expanding clean energy manufacturing and improving energy security. The investment is also expected to enhance economic development in the Shenandoah Valley by creating skilled manufacturing jobs and supporting local workforce development initiatives.
MSolar, founded in 2018, is a Virginia-based solar manufacturer focused on producing high-performance solar panels using advanced technology. The company stated that the new facility represents the first stage of a broader strategy to scale domestic solar production and strengthen the United States’ position in renewable energy manufacturing.
The project was supported by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and local authorities, with additional assistance provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which helps companies with recruitment and training costs as they expand operations in the state.
The investment reflects continued growth in the U.S. clean energy manufacturing sector, as states compete to attract renewable energy companies and strengthen local industrial capacity.
