The African Development Bank Group is organizing a high-level webinar focused on strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within Mozambique’s energy supply chains, particularly as the country expands its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector. The discussion draws on insights from two initiatives, the Linkar Project and the Moz YWEB Start-Up Programme, which have been supported through multiple AfDB-managed trust funds aimed at private sector development, women’s entrepreneurship, and youth innovation.
The webinar will examine how SMEs can better access and integrate into procurement opportunities generated by large-scale energy investments. It will also explore how these approaches can be replicated in other African countries to strengthen local content, promote inclusive economic growth, and ensure that more value from natural resource development remains within national economies.
Participants will include project coordinators from Mozambique’s national hydrocarbon and SME promotion institutions, experts from the African Development Bank, SME beneficiaries, and representatives from supporting trust funds. The event will also bring together stakeholders such as bank staff working on SME programmes, development partners, and private sector financial institutions.
Overall, the webinar aims to highlight practical strategies for improving SME participation in energy value chains while supporting broader goals of industrial development, job creation, and inclusive growth across Africa’s emerging energy sectors.
