Ipswich Borough Council’s Executive is set to decide how to allocate grant funding from the £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund, following strong interest from local organisations. The fund, provided by the Government, is intended to improve community spaces and revitalize public areas across the town.
Since the fund’s launch, the Council has engaged with local MPs, stakeholders, community groups, and the Ipswich Vision Board to identify priorities and opportunities for investment. This consultation led to the decision to target funding specifically toward enhancing spaces used by Ipswich communities.
An online application portal was opened in January 2026, and by the 27 February deadline, 85 applications had been submitted requesting a total of over £11.6 million. These applications came from community groups, charities, and other local organisations. The submissions have now been evaluated, and a report with recommendations for grant awards has been prepared for the Council’s Executive.
Jack Abbott, MP for Ipswich, highlighted the significance of the programme, noting that the £1.5 million fund will support around 30 community projects, including youth centres, charities, and places of worship. He emphasized that the initiative aims to restore pride and create a more vibrant, community-focused future for Ipswich.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, stated that the fund will back a wide range of community-led projects that enhance local pride, health, and wellbeing while fostering resilient and inclusive communities. He praised the overwhelming response from organisations eager to improve community assets.
Updates on successful bids and the delivery of projects will be shared following Executive approval and the completion of necessary due diligence for each project.
