His Highness the Aga Khan has donated $1 million in humanitarian aid to support victims of severe floods in southern Mozambique. The disaster has affected over 860,000 people, caused 223 deaths, displaced more than 94,000 individuals, destroyed 441,000 hectares of crops, and impacted 365,000 farmers.
The emergency response will focus on stabilizing livelihoods, providing rapid health assistance, and addressing urgent water, sanitation, and hygiene needs, particularly in Gaza province, one of the hardest-hit areas.
The aid will help alleviate critical shortages in essential medicines, improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, and provide agricultural resources so affected families can resume food production and restore their livelihoods.
The Aga Khan Foundation will directly implement the program in coordination with Mozambique’s authorities and local partners. The initiative aims to closely monitor the impact of support to ensure it reaches those most affected by the floods.
