Ukrainian communities are currently facing an extremely difficult situation due to ongoing attacks by the Russian Federation, compounded by a severe energy crisis. Urgent technical assistance from international partners could help protect civilians from the devastating consequences of these attacks.
In coordination with the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe and in partnership with Ukrainian associations of local and regional authorities, a call for mobilisation has been issued to support Ukrainian peers. This initiative seeks to channel immediate aid and technical support to communities in need.
Those able to assist are invited to contact Ukrainian associations directly, which can provide guidance on specific needs and methods of support. Assistance may include the provision of energy generators, cogeneration plants, energy storage systems, other energy equipment, spare parts, or temporary heating solutions.
For those interested in establishing long-term municipal partnerships, the Cities4Cities initiative is recommended. Interested parties can engage with the associations to develop collaborations that meet the specific needs of both urban and rural municipalities.
Beyond the practical impact, this support represents a strong gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and contributes to the shared goal of a secure and united European future.
