Nestlé and the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) have launched a pioneering partnership aimed at enhancing the resilience of global food systems to climate change. The collaboration focuses on advocating for fair policies and practical solutions, including regenerative agriculture, to empower farmers and support their adaptation to climate-related challenges.
Arnold Puech d’Alissac, President of the WFO, emphasized that farmers not only face climate change daily but are also key drivers of solutions. He noted that holistic approaches and collaboration across the food value chain are essential for meaningful progress. The partnership aims to demonstrate how farmers and industry can work together with trust and respect to build fair, resilient, and sustainable food systems.
The partnership will involve joint efforts to better understand farmers’ challenges, raise awareness of regenerative agriculture, strengthen farmers’ skills, and co-develop viable farming models. These initiatives are also intended to inspire and attract the next generation of farmers.
Chris Hogg, Global Head of Public Affairs at Nestlé, highlighted the company’s reliance on 600,000 farmers worldwide to secure a sustainable supply of raw materials. He stressed that farmers’ expertise in adapting to environmental challenges is vital for informing food policies, and the partnership with the WFO ensures that farmers’ perspectives are placed at the center of decision-making.
The WFO represents over one billion farmers globally through national organizations and agricultural cooperatives in more than 50 countries. Both Nestlé and the WFO prioritize climate-resilient and regenerative agriculture, aiming to strengthen rural economies, support farming communities, and enable effective action on climate change from the ground up.
