The African Development Bank Group and the Tunisian government have launched a joint initiative to strengthen the financial and accounting management of Bank-funded projects in Tunisia, aiming to accelerate implementation and improve development outcomes. In collaboration with Tunisia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning, the General Financial Control, and the National Information Technology Centre (CNI), a strategic workshop was held in Tunis as part of the 2025–2026 Portfolio Performance Improvement Plan, focusing on timely audit submissions, reliable financial statements, and greater transparency in public and external resource use.
The workshop engaged 77 participants from executing agencies and project units to review financial management procedures, reporting templates, and annual statement formats, while also evaluating the adoption of an Integrated Financial and Accounting Management System developed by the CNI. The initiative is designed to enhance operational efficiency, accountability, and project monitoring, enabling stronger financial reporting to accelerate project delivery and maximize development impact.
Officials highlighted that improved financial management will increase the effectiveness of public investment, mobilize additional financing, and speed up the delivery of infrastructure, water, energy, agriculture, and social service projects, ultimately bringing tangible benefits to communities across Tunisia.
