The Minns Labor Government has officially opened the new TAFE NSW Bankstown City campus, marking a major milestone in the state’s record investment in vocational education. The campus replaces the former TAFE NSW Bankstown site, which is now the location for a new $2 billion Bankstown Hospital—the largest public hospital capital works project in NSW history. This development ensures the region retains and expands its training capacity while gaining a modern hospital and updated TAFE facilities.
The new campus, co-located with Western Sydney University, offers state-of-the-art learning environments designed to replicate real workplaces. Students gain hands-on experience through simulated healthcare and disability support facilities, modern hair and beauty salons, digital learning studios, and dedicated student support hubs, equipping them to enter the workforce job-ready.
As part of the $100 million investment, TAFE NSW Padstow has also been upgraded with new animal studies and early childhood education centers, addressing areas with strong workforce demand. These initiatives form part of a broader $3.4 billion TAFE and skills funding package for 2025–26, which includes fee-free apprenticeships and traineeships, a Construction Workforce Package, campus repairs, and converting eligible casual teachers to permanent roles.
