Esmée Fairbairn is seeking experienced consultants to conduct a review of its work supporting habitat and species restoration since the launch of its 2020 strategy. The review will inform the organisation’s future work through to 2027, with a focus on the first outcome under the Space for Nature priority: restoring biodiversity at scale on land and at sea. The project is expected to start in March 2026, run for approximately 35 days, and has a budget of around £28,000.
The review will cover roughly 120 grants, with a detailed examination of a sample of 30, spanning policy advocacy, restoration programmes, evidence and data development, community engagement, and innovative finance models for nature. Consultants will conduct desk research on the 2020–2026 environmental context, perform thematic analysis across policy, restoration, evidence, finance, and chemicals, and facilitate online workshops with grantees and non-grantees. Emerging findings will be tested in a validation workshop, culminating in a written report.
Esmée Fairbairn is looking for consultants or consultant teams with strong experience in evaluation and research, knowledge of the environment sector—including environmental policy or habitat restoration practice—and excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills. Applicants should be able to analyse diverse sources of evidence and present findings clearly and concisely.
Interested candidates should submit a short proposal of up to two A4 pages outlining relevant experience, proposed approach, and budget breakdown, along with CVs of the individuals involved and examples of relevant work. Applications must be sent to communications@esmeefairbairn.org.uk
