AI in Education Video Project – Call for Proposals

Dated: February 12, 2026

UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) and Shanghai Open University (SOU) have been jointly implementing the project “Promoting ICT Capacity Building and Open Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies” since 2021. The project has achieved significant outcomes in research and practice, and both institutions aim to further expand research coverage, enhance teachers’ digital technology competencies, and promote the use of WEB 3.0 technologies such as immersive experiences, blockchain, and generative AI in education and instructional design. In 2026, the project seeks to enrich existing course frameworks with more diverse examples to provide teachers with improved practical guidance and support.

To achieve this goal, UNESCO IITE is seeking an individual consultant to produce up-to-date video materials in close collaboration with the IITE and SOU teams. The consultant will develop a collection of 15 videos highlighting best practices in AI applications across various educational dimensions. These videos will reflect the UNESCO AI competencies framework for teachers and AI literacies as defined by D. Belshaw, covering topics such as cultural, cognitive, constructive, communicative, confident, creative, critical, and civic AI literacies, as well as UNESCO AI CFT aspects including human-centered mindset, ethics, AI foundations and applications, AI pedagogy, and professional development. The final video will also showcase constellations of AI literacies and signature practices.

Each case in the video collection should describe challenges in integrating AI into teaching and learning, strategies for improving AI competencies among teachers and students, analysis of effects, and suggestions for future applications. Supporting text materials, such as scripts, translations, and presentations, must accompany the videos. Videos should be 5–10 minutes in length, produced in high-quality MPEG-4/H.264 format with full HD 1080p minimum (UHD 4K preferred), optimized for mobile devices, and include audio, graphics, background, and English subtitles provided separately in SRT format. All materials must comply with the UNESCO Style Manual and be presented in a reader-friendly tone suitable for educators and policymakers.

The draft video and text materials are to be submitted to UNESCO IITE by April 30, 2026, with revisions based on feedback completed and the final version delivered by June 1, 2026. During the contract period, the consultant is also expected to participate in online project meetings and respond to questions from the IITE–SOU team.

Candidates should hold an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Education or Social Sciences, have at least five years of relevant experience in educational research, possess sufficient ICT competencies including experience with video production, and be fluent in English. Interested candidates should submit their applications in English to o.akimov@unesco.org
by February 15, 2026. Applications must include a CV, a statement of suitability for the assignment, an outline of the proposed approach, and a proposed budget in USD. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
